Okay now that someone has told you that the smoking you have been seeing or the reason for the low oil is engine sludge and then quoted you a price that equals the national debt what can you do. Toyota reversed their position regarding some models and engines made between 1997 - 2001. If you have one of these engines please contact the local Toyota dealer to see what needs to be done. At first the Special Policy Adjustment regarding the "gel" condition was a little limited. On April 3, 02 they opened up the program for those engines which made it easier to sort out what needs to be done. Toyota did not have to do this but it was the right thing to do and they should be applauded for the extra step they have taken to set things right.
